Osama Bin ladens son speaks out

  1. MJ - The reason for my argument: a good question. Here is my reasoning. Your generation experienced this horrific event, just like everyone else alive on the planet. Although true, experience to me is relative to the basic understanding of the more critical points. Being able to critically analyze a situation, gather evidence, and make rational decisions. I feel that your generation was in a way "out of touch" with the long term effects and deeper issues since you were children. This was a conversation for adults. I remember when I was that age, world affairs and politics were not on my radar of priorities. Even today, students are uninformed about what's going on around them. No matter how important the issue, some people simply do not care unless it affects them directly.

As for me, my life changed after 9/11. Although a history major, I was dedicated to the events of the past and not paying particularly close attention to the present and future. There is a reason why your homework is to watch the news. After 9/11, I truly started to want to be an informed person about world issues. To be a true global citizen, I believe a person needs to be educated, has the ability to think, but also the drive to take action. My job is to prepare you for the world, and that is my way of taking action. I want students of your generation to be able to critically think, analyze, question, research, and take action when you're 9/11 happens: the moment in which you will never forget where you were, what you were doing, wearing, who you were with, or the events of the day. But more importantly, I want you and your generation to have the skills necessary to truly comprehend the nature of the issue, what you can learn from it, and how to take action.

Sorry about the lengthy response. Hope you're still up.
