There was no independent confirmation of the authenticity of the letter, published on the website of Islamist ideologue Abu Walid al-Masri, although several specialists on militant propaganda said the text appeared genuine.

Omar bin Laden, who has been based in the Gulf in recent years, did not immediately respond to emailed and telephoned requests for comment.

The letter said, in part: "We hold the American President (Barack) Obama legally responsible to clarify the fate of our father, Osama bin Laden, for it is unacceptable, humanely and religiously, to dispose of a person with such importance and status among his people, by throwing his body into the sea in that way, which demeans and humiliates his family and his supporters and which challenges religious provisions and feelings of hundreds of millions of Muslims."

The letter said the U.S. administration had offered no proof to back up its account of the mission. It alleged the goal of raid had been to kill and not arrest, adding that afterwards the American commandos had "rushed to dispose of the body."

Some Muslims have misgivings about how U.S. forces killed bin Laden in a raid in Pakistan on May 2 and disposed of his body in the ocean.

Questions have multiplied since the White House said the al Qaeda leader was unarmed when U.S. helicopter-borne commandos raided the villa where he was hiding in the city of Abbottabad.

Bin Laden's swift burial at sea, in what many Muslims say was a violation of Islamic custom, has also stirred anger.

Al Qaeda finally confirmed bin Laden’s death on Friday, May 6, on the Ansar and Shumukh forums. The fact “that the Americans have killed Osama is neither shameful nor disgraceful,” the announcement said, since ”men and heroes are only killed on the battlefield, and every soul has an appointed time.” It went on to warn that “Sheikh Osama did not build an organization that would die with him, nor would end with him.”

A well regarded and prolific member of the online jihadi community, Assad al-Jihad 2 (Lion of Jihad 2), frequently posts articles on the Ansar and Shumukh forums written on behalf of al Qaeda, and is thought to be a senior member of the group. After news of bin Laden’s death first emerged, he polled forum users to assess their reactions. The overwhelming majority, more than ninety percent, believed that attacks against the United States would increase, and that bin Laden’s death would embolden the movement.

Bin Laden’s influence will linger online for years to come. His followers have been quick to renew their pledge to the jihadi cause and are promising new attacks. One contributor warned on the Ansar forum that “a million new bin Ladens will be born! And the flag of jihad will be raised! Inshallah.” Another, Husain Mahmoud, wrote, “We are a nation who build a lofty fortress with the skulls of its chivalrous men. Whenever a man dies in war, the fortress growers even higher, remaining ever so lofty and elevated!”

When i first heard Osama bin laden was dead i was extremely shocked and i was HAPPPPYYYY as all heck, who would have know what it would take 10 years to find a single man! I honestly think Bin laden's death but of course new things are being said, conspiracies are rising and politically things are becoming more and more heated with Pakistan.The Us gives Pakistan about $7bn in non-military aid to fight terrorism and our most wanted terrorist was "hiding" right underneath your nose! REALLLY!? sheesh makes me mad just even typing it.Now people have been doubting bin laden's death because the story that was originally told us was false. People world wide are demanding a photo to identify that its really him. Honestly i think that even with a photo people will always continue to have their doubts.Obama isn't going to release the photo's of bin laden because it could incite additional violence and another attack. Do i believe that there is going to be revenge for his death? yes! but then again that's my opinion. Its a great victory for our nation and for all those 9/11 victims that lost someone or experienced this horror can now be at peace; for the man that was behind it all is DEAD!

yeeeeeeeeeeee!! I just watched the Presidants exclustive adress to the nation announcing that OSAMA BIN LADEN IS DEADDDDDDDDDDDD!
CRAZY, it took 10 years to catch this horrific man! This opperation was undergoing since last august and the presidant sent the initial tip to kill him was today after a firefight in Pakistan. Im so glad that we finally caught the motherFU&kER that devisated AMERICA on september 11.
This is a historic day for America, wow.

Class discussion Reflection: Immigration

So this topic, in my opinion was more heated then the Mosque controversy or health-care . Actually i wouldn't have even called what happened on thursday a discussion, it was more like an argument. It being that this is an issue that probably about 90% of our classmates have dealt with in some way or form (parents, family, friends, who are illegal or have been, taxpayer's who are completely against the illegals)all of these factors made it a personal topic, making it difficult to actually get a point across. I'm usually very outspoken in these class discussion, but this time i just soaked it all in, plus it was difficult to say anything with the passing and tossing of the "ball". What i did noticed was that there were allot of people getting offended because the race card was pulled out, and it was merely impossible to get around that or to move on..and it explains why this topic is such a difficult one to talk about. I wish that Mr.palo would have threw in some questions(when the topic of the conversation was just based on Mexicans doing jobs Americans want to or not want to do or when slavery was brought up into the mix) for us to talk about, because like he told me there is more to this topic then whether they should be here or not. To me allot of the responses were based on just their own opinion and what they believe, i wish there were more facts like Kierra succeeded to present to us at the beginning of the discussion and then gave an opinion. I felt that we only spoke about the basics and what everyone already knows like why immigrants flee here; to make a better living [WE KNOW THISSSS MAN], and we didn't really explore and take into consideration the full 360 immigration/imm.reform deals with.I'm pretty disappointed, if any one's reading let me know what you're thoughts.
